Inch by inch… NASA American Iron Javelin update

Making slow progress. I wish things were going faster but I’m just making lists and checking things off. Since my last update I’ve filled the side marker and antenna holes in the fenders, hung the fenders, hood, front spoiler and bumper back on the car (just loosely for now), cut holes in the dash for the gauges, bolted in the door handles and latches, put the fuel cell back in and disassembled the pedal box (to paint it), and mounted the brake and clutch cylinder reservoirs to the firewall. I’ve now got a small pile of pieces I need to paint (pedal box, fuel cell and battery strap and the dash). I also need to figure out what I’m going to do about the grille and radiator ducting. I have a stock mesh AMX grille from my yellow Javelin but I don’t have any of the other pieces that would make up the front (plastic headlight buckets and the stamped crossbar that the inner plastic grille “box” screws too). I’m trying to decide if I’m going to try to get those pieces (minus the inner grille) or do something else. My other idea is to fab a big panel that just closes off the whole nose section and then just cut an opening to let air in the radiator and cut a couple more holes for the brake ducting. I’d just mount the mesh grill onto that for looks… I’ve also been cleaning up the taillight buckets and working on completing the taillights so I can just pop them in after the car is painted. I bought 2 additional red lenses and I’m going to replace the backup lenses with those. So the car will have 4 red brake lights. Here’s a few pics and another time lapse…
