vroom vroom… American Iron Javelin Update

Went to Evil Genius Racing today to check on the car and help mock up the pedal and steering column placement. Clint, EGR’s head fabricator has done and awesome job with the cage and fuel cell install. It’s been great working with EGR. They’re a great shop if you need some fab work done! After… Continue Reading vroom vroom… American Iron Javelin Update

LED Taillights… a long time coming.

I finally got around to installing LED taillights in the Javelin this weekend.  This is something I’ve been thinking of for years and even experimented with building my own LED board about 5 years ago. I just never followed through and finished the job.  But, twice this year at the track people have come up… Continue Reading LED Taillights… a long time coming.

Fuel cell is in! – American Iron Javelin update…

Cool!  got some more pics from Evil Genius Racing.  The fuel cell is in and they also welded tabs to hold the trunk pins. Next up they are going to mount the brake/clutch pedal assembly.  It interferes with the stock steering column.  So, we’re going to pull the column, mount the pedals and then figure… Continue Reading Fuel cell is in! – American Iron Javelin update…

block off plate – Laguna prep continues…

As mentioned in a previous post, I’m going to carry my track tires where the back seat normally goes.  Pulling the rear seat leaves a big pass through opening to the trunk.  I’ve got the battery back there and will soon add a rear-end catch-can/breather tank.  So, I needed to create a block off plate.… Continue Reading block off plate – Laguna prep continues…

Cage progress, American Iron Javelin update…

Yes!  Got some pics from Evil Genius Racing today showing the progress on the roll cage.  It’s basically done. They also completed the seat mount.  Next up they are going to install the fuel cell.   Also, they’ve received all the ford 9″ rear end parts (housing, axles, hubs, brakes, everything but the center section/gear).… Continue Reading Cage progress, American Iron Javelin update…

Plan B – Laguna Seca prep…

My next (and last) track day for the year will be Nov. 1st with NCRC.  Now that I’ve done 6 track days on my Kumho’s I’ve decided I really don’t want to drive the 2 1/2 hrs each way on these tires.  I’ve been running fast and loose all year but I’m starting to get… Continue Reading Plan B – Laguna Seca prep…

asifnyc.com exclusive :) tube frame Javelin found!

When I was at the NASA weekend in August I was pitted near Charles from Life’s Good Racing.  He came over to check out the Javelin and tell me about another guy on the Life’s Good team who is building a tube frame super unlimited car with a Javelin body dropped over it.  So, I… Continue Reading asifnyc.com exclusive 🙂 tube frame Javelin found!

rear-end on the way… American Iron Javelin update.

Things are moving quickly now.  Today I ordered a 9″ Ford floater rear-end from Schreiner Enterprises.  Fittingly these guys are in Wisconsin 🙂  I’ll be running Wilwood brakes, 11.5″ rotors and 4 piston calipers.  As soon as Evil Genius (cage builder) get’s the rear housing they can start on the 3-link rear suspension!
